For lunch the other day, I broiled Salmon fillet and made a tomato-and-herbs sauce to accompany it. Served with brown rice, this was a meal that left both Patrick and I satisfied. I'm not much of a fish-eater, but the tomato-herb sauce helped me appreciate salmon in a whole new way. What a fantastic alternative to the staple of tartar sauce. love, A
Happy Birthday Geoff
for my brother-in-law's birthday, I asked what kind of cake I could make him as a gift from us. he requested chocolately chocolate chocolate cake- with cherries. then Patrick suggested we make it in the shape of Number Man- a disgruntled character Geoff created and has written some comic books about. Thus-the creation of the cake you see pictured. Number Man is looking at a pile of the leftovers after cutting him out... saying "What a shitty cake."
The ridiculous part: when we delivered the cake, part of the Number Man frosting stuck to the cover of the cake pan...and therefore ruined it before Geoff got to see it. but he was gracious and cited the irony of how a ruined cake fits the essence of Number Man.
Tracing with icing is trickier than I suspected- but it turned out alright for my first try.... love, A

ginger beer
Here it is! The much anticipated beverage has been bottled and will be available for our consumption in 14 days. It smelled so good today as I transferred it from the large pot to the liter jars, and it had a bit of fizz already. This is such a fun process- I feel like Christmas is just a couple of weeks away! I'll be sure to update once we have a taste. love, A
Dill Pickles
They taste so good- and now they're half a shelf in the refrigerator. I made a mistake while mixing the vinegar and water...which led me to then make a double batch of these to correct the proportions, but I'm excited to be stocked with pickles for the year. It was fun to see what actually goes into a jar of these tangy and great green wonders. love, A
